The President's Chair

The design for the President's or Celebrant's Chair is dated October 1966. The Chair was originally intended to stand on a wooden platform against the east wall of the church with smaller stools for the assistants (deacon and subdeacon) on either side. Unfortunately it seems the platform (which appears clearly on all the plans for the church) was never constructed (or even designed) which meant the chairs had to be placed on the altar platform itself. The assistant clergy stools appear to have become small tables and been replaced by non-matching chairs.
